Grit is not stubbornness. It is the combination of passion and perseverance toward a long-term goal. It is doing the same hard things on the days when motivation has disappeared.

Grit is not stubbornness. It is the combination of passion and perseverance toward a long-term goal.nnThe problem with most conversations about grit is that they focus on endurance without asking why. Grit without direction is just suffering. The question is not whether you can endure. The question is whether what you are enduring is worth it.nnPeople with genuine grit are not people who never want to quit. They are people who have a clear enough reason to continue that quitting feels worse than pressing on.nnGrit is built in small moments. It is built every time you finish a task you started, even when it is no longer interesting.
